Australian infrastructure consultant Connell Wagner Pty Ltd has merged with two South African consultancy firms to create a new international infrastructure firm.
Connell Wagner, Africon Pty Ltd and Ninham Shand Pty Ltd have joined to form Aurecon, which will offer technical services on large infrastructure projects in Europe, Middle East, Africa and Asia Pacific.
Aurecon will be headquartered in Singapore and take on the entire 6,700 employee base of all three former companies.
Former Connell Wagner chief executive Paul Hardy has been appointed Aurecon chief executive.
The heads of the two former African companies will have senior roles in Aurecon's African and Middle East operations.
"As Aurecon ... we are able to both provide greater opportunities for our employees and grow the bottom line for our shareholders," Mr Hardy said in a statement on Tuesday.
"Aurecon will also reduce our reliance on local business and allow for expansion into new markets within growing economies where we currently have little or no presence."
Aurecon said it expected to rank in the top 60 global consulting forms, based on revenue and businesses.
