John Morschel to become ANZ chairman

ANZ Banking Group Ltd says John Morschel will become chairman on March 1, replacing long serving incumbent Charles Goode.

"ANZ will have an excellent new Chairman in John Morschel," Mr Goode said in a statement on Wednesday.

"He knows ANZ well and we have been working closely over recent months to ensure there is a smooth transition."

Mr Goode was ANZ chairman for the past 14 years.

"Charles has successfully overseen an extraordinary period of change at ANZ and has made an outstanding contribution to business and the community, not only in Australia, but in the Asia Pacific region," Mr Morschel said.

Mr Morschel's appointment was announced last July.
