Fairfax Digital has acquired FindABabysitter.com.au for an undisclosed sum and says it will integrate the service into its Essential Baby parenting community.
FindABabysitter.com.au is an internet business that introduces parents to babysitters and nannies using emails, text messages and job postings, Fairfax Digital said today.
The business was established by founders Delia Timms and Jeff Bonnes in 2005. Since then it had experienced rapid expansion with an average of 68 per cent year-on-year growth, the company said.
“This deal fits perfectly into our overall strategy to diversify revenue streams and acquire sites that integrate well into our already strong network,’’ said Fairfax Digital chief executive Jack Matthews. ‘‘Looking ahead, the integration of the service will only strengthen Essential Baby as Australia’s largest online parenting community, with over 170,000 members.”
The company said the factors behind FindABabysitter.com.au’s success were the record increase in Australia’s birth rate, the shortage of childcare throughout Australia and the growth in the number of homes with high-speed internet access.
