Telstra adds services to basic bundle

By Lucy Battersby

TELSTRA will launch a national television advertising campaign today selling futuristic in-home services.

It has also doubled the number of technicians available to make house calls to help people set up multiple internet-based services, with 250 staff expected to be available by late May.

The services will be add-ons to broadband bundles released two weeks ago, which form the "cornerstone" of the new marketing campaign, group managing director of innovation, products and marketing, Kate McKenzie, said. Additional services would be "clipped on to" these basic bundles, creating "tailored" services for each household, she said.

Initially Telstra will launch just a few services, such as cloud-based storage and gaming, and spreading centrally stored media across multiple devices. More products would come to market later this year, Ms McKenzie said.

Most Australian homes already had one to six internet-connected devices and Telstra had been upgrading existing infrastructure to deliver faster broadband speeds, she added.

Telstra knows that customers paying for bundles of products are less likely to leave, and these new products take it one step further by bundling multiple Telstra connections and devices in with service and operability.
