A sale of luxury watches, including a Rolex worn by Roger Moore as James Bond, exceeded expectations to net SFr26.1 million ($28.1 million) in Geneva, Christie's said.

An anonymous buyer snapped up the watch-lover's dream for SFr180,000 ($194,000) at auction on November 14, 2011 in Geneva after it failed to reach its estimated 200,000 to 400,000 franc price tag.

Another highlight of the nine-hour auction was the sale of a pink gold wristwatch manufactured by Swiss watchmaker Patek Philippe in 1968, which fetched 2 million francs ($2.2million), more than double its pre-auction estimate worth.

Some 222 sellers from 39 countries, many from China, took part in the auction, Christie's auction house said.
