WA consumer protection authorities have now been contacted by 550 people with $1.3 million in goods awaiting delivery from the failed Rick Hart electrical appliance chain.
The chain, along with parent company Clive Peeters, went into receivership on Thursday.
Since then, Rick Hart customers with goods on order have been left in limbo.
Receiver PPB initially said it would honour all gift vouchers and deposits.
However, it then backed down and said customers would have to spend four times as much as the voucher was worth before it would be redeemed.
The Department of Consumer Protection has sought legal advice on the voucher issue, though it is believed the receiver is not legally bound to honour vouchers.
PPB said the Rick Hart business would continue to trade as usual as a plan was developed to sell the company.
Clive Peeters' board decided to put the company into voluntary administration after sales plunged and it racked up $140m in debt.
The National Australia Bank also called in receivers the same day.
